First Blog-About Me!

Filed as:

Hi and welcome to my first blog! To begin, I am probably best to give you a brief rundown of who I am…

My name is Shane Hardcastle, High School teacher and father of three beautiful boys, Sam (5), Jack (3) and Will (8 months). I also have a beautiful wife Kathryn, who is my business partner in a tutoring business we own. I have been working in schools in a variety of different forms for the past 15 years. My educational qualifications consist of a Bachelor Degree that was done in what feels like an eternity ago. More recently, I stepped back into tertiary study again and completed my Masters Degree in Education. Within my postgraduate study, much of my time was spent exploring the skills and strategies that foster positive learning experiences for students. I am looking to begin my PhD in the near future.

I strongly believe that every child has talents and abilities that make them both special and unique. The purpose of this website, and this blog, therefore is to empower parents to help their kids achieve in all areas of life. This is by no means an easy feat. Within both societies and in schools, the changing landscape of modern life poses many obstacles that can make this difficult to achieve. It is often hard for parents to know how to deal with various issues and understand what is expected of their children in various circumstances. As both a parent and an educator, I would like to bridge the gap between school and home as best I can by providing information and support to enable you to make the best decisions for your children.

Every week, I will be blogging about issues relevant to school and children’s lives. I aim to provide information and advice on how to deal with certain aspects of schooling and education.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Shane
